Prior to arrival, you should try out the journey planner system at http://www.ytv.fi/eng/
Once you input your hotel address and the address of the university building (Fabianinkatu 33) to the planner, you can view the distance from the hotel as well as exact directions for commuting between the hotel and the conference place either by walking or by using the excellent public transportation system. Guidance for using public transportation will be made available at the website by May 1st.

If everything else fails, you should contact the conference staff at transvision2006@gmail.com.
We'll be happy to assist you.

Helsinki & University main building

The University of Helsinki is divided into four separate campi. The conference will take place at the University of Helsinki main building, located at the central campus on a central location at downtown Helsinki. Several of the most interesting locations of Helsinki are within walking distance, and anything else is available by low-cost excellent public transportation system. Almost all young and middle-aged people speak moderately good English, so nearly all services are also available in English.
Note: the crime rate in Helsinki is very low by international comparison; the threat to personal security anywhere in Helsinki during daytime is virtually zero.
Therefore, we encourage you to try out all the tourist attractions that Helsinki has to offer. The conference staff will be happy to assist you in any questions or problems before and during the conference.

Finland

Finland is a member of the European Union and visas are not required for citizens of EU-countries. U.S. citizens do not need a visa for stays not exceeding 90 days. A valid passport is required. Citizens of other countries should contact the nearest Finnish embassy for further information. Participants requiring a visa for entry to Finland are strongly advised to make an application in their home country at least three months before the intended date of travel. The organizers of TV06 will do their utmost to assist you with the visa application process. For any assistance, please contact the conference chair.

We cordially welcome you to Finland!
